Irengbam Chaoren
EARLY LIFE
Irengbam Chaoren, also known as Bhorot, was born to the late Irengbam Ibomcha and Tongbram (Ningol) Irengbam (Ongbi) Jamuna at Khangempalli Huidrom Leikai on Saturday, November 2, 1957 — the 10th day of Hiyangei. He was the eldest of three brothers. Basanta and Dhamen are his younger siblings.
Chaoren began his education at Khangempalli Huidrom Leikai L.P. School. He then attended Keishamthong M.E. School, Elangbam Leikai, before completing his High School Leaving Certificate Examination from Ramlal Paul High School in 1974. He went on to complete the Pre-University (Science) course from Oriental College in 1976.
After completing the PU Science course, Sir Chaoren enrolled in Manipur College for a Bachelor of Arts degree. Although he had a strong desire to pursue education and expand his knowledge, he could no longer ignore the call of national duty — the struggle for the liberation of Manipur. Thus, he joined the national revolutionary movement before completing his B.A. course.
Bidding a final farewell to his beloved parents, family members, and the home where he grew up and spent his childhood, Sir Chaoren set out on a journey for national liberation. From that day until his last moment, he never saw his home again.
"We need to work harder, and hope his blessing in the fullfilment of our historic mission."
